Typical architecture of Hue pagoda

Hue looks like a large garden in which having the royal space, with the splendor of the palaces, temples, there are also some quiet, cozy space of rustic garden houses or calm, serene, quiet scenery of temple. There is no area in our country has a high density pagodas as in Hue. Over one hundred temples, large and small, many palatial pagodas with the contribution and effort of the court, the aristocracy, but also no less austere temple associated in rustic village.
 
According to history Hue Pagoda appeared from the sixteenth century, but Nguyen Hoang came to Thuan Hoa and Lord Nguyen Thuan Nguyen Lords wanted to build up an individual region with Le – Trinh Emperor in the North, thus the social and cultural activities was promoted and the pagod was built to get more spiritual activities.
 
We can list some typical pagoda: Thien Mu (1601), Bao Quoc(1674), Tu Dam (1683), Thuyen Ton (1709), Tu Hieu (1843), Dieu De (1844), Phuoc Tho Am (1831), Truc Lam (1909) ...
 
Pagodas in Hue, even with contribution of the royal never built splendidly, expensively as in the north: for example the Tram Gian (Hundred compartment) pagoda, Dau (pagoda), and huge scale as Quynh Lam (Dong Trieu), Sai Nghiem (Chi Linh), Ho Thien (Kinh Bac) ...
 
Hue pagoda is basically a continuation of Vietnamese  traditional pagoda but it is delicate, not huge . Hue pagoda usually hasn’t got many compartment. 
Hall usually has only 3 to 5 main compartments , 2 auxiliary one,. Two side of attic for the staff, the Master. Behind the hall is a courtyard surrounded by orchards, tombs of monk... Back of the garden is the cultivation and planting area.
 
Interior Temple is simple, balanced and natural decoration. In addition to the traditional Tam The Buddhist statues, on the left is Quan Cong statue, on the right is Thanh Mau Thien Y A Na. Later, in the rehabilitation of Buddhism from 1950-1963, the system of worshiping was reformed: before Tam The Buddha statues has Thich Ca statue, on the  right with Bo Tat Dia Tang, on the left with Bo Tat Quan The Am.

Phuoc Duyen tower rising above the river has long been a symbol of Hue. In fact, the tower is only part of a whole pagoda, located on a large hill. This tower 21m high, with seven floors, built on King Thieu Tri dynasty(1844). The bell here is very large and ancient, cast in 1710, 2.35 meters high and weighs 2.052kg. Thien Mu Pagoda was the oldest pagoda in Hue, in 1601. In the beginning of Nguyen Dynasty, King Gia Long invited Mat Hoang Monk as a Master of Thien Mu (Dai Giac pagoda in Gia Dinh rampart).

The To Dinh section built in 1674 with a small temple, after several restoration in the Nguyen dynasty, it had been a pagoda with the contruction as “?”(mouth),great on an area of 2 hectares, right next to the Hue station. This temple has long been considered as the origin of Buddhism rehabilitation’s movements  in Vietnam since the 30th of the last century, leaded by Tri Do monk due to the maintenance of venerable leaders. Linh Quang school moved here in 1948 had turned the temple into a place where temper monk for whole country . Since 1957, the temple was rebuilt but still follow the traditional layout.

Born in 1683, pagoda ‘s origin is Thien Lam Te. This pagoda rebuilt modernly , still respecting the traditional basic layout but the department had the innovating, with lecture halls, communal ancestor house, guest room. For a long time, this place was famous for Buddhist rehabilitation ‘s movement, it was also the former headquarters of the Vietnam General Assembly Buddhism Vietnam, in 1945 it was Buddhism  nation’s  rescue.

Built in 1843 in the West of the ancient capital, located near the tombs of Nguyen Dynasty, on a campus to 4.5 ha. It was originaly An Duong temple, in 1848 the eunuchs had contribution of renovation for the rest of old age. Overall of the temple is quite complete with the Ban Nguyet (Crescent) lake, stele house, the front hall, main hall, communal ancestor house ... Before the gate is the Bo De tower built in 1896 Bodhi to contain the damaged prayer book to the self-destruction. Houses for monks to rest or study called "Ta Lac Thien" and guest house called "Huu Ai Nhat". Now the new temple was built for guest from every region coming here to study.
