For a long time the conical hat has been a necessary light thing protecting people from sunlight and rain so it is often worn by cyclists, farmers and vendors. In Hue, the conical hat has existed for a long time not only as a sun safety but also as traditional accessories. Therefore, it is made a bit differently than in other regions, it is thinner, lighter and more charming. The typical images of Hue such as: Thien Mu Pagoda, Trang Tien Bridge, even poems woven on the hat. Because it is decorated with poems, Hue Non La is also called as Non Bai Tho.
 
Materials for making a Bai Tho hats is simple, just coconut and palm leaf. To make a light and beautiful hat, it takes 15 stages from picking up the leaves, drying it, cutting… To get the suitable leaves, people usually choose young leaves on the forest) with green light.
 
Among many scenic places in Hue you should not forget to visit the Bai Tho Tay Ho conical hats village to see nice hat made by the skillful hands. This village located on the bank of Nhu Y river in Phu Ho, Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province.
